TAP QUARTERLY REPORT - January 2022
Greetings and Welcome to a new journey around the sun, labelled 2022 – the Year of the Tiger – filled with promise and hope. People born in the Year of the Tiger are predicted to be brave, competitive, unpredictable, confident and display great levels of willpower. That seems to be an apt descriptor, for the challenges, optimism and promise that bely us.
Tavistock Assistance Program has been busy over the Christmas and Holiday period. Requests for assistance, the spreading of Christmas cheer and the most humbling receipt of so many generous donations kept the TAP Program Director and valued volunteers busy. Families and individuals were served with Christmas gifts, grocery items such as paper goods, hygiene and cleansing products and treasured donations of gift cards for local businesses. These gift cards truly are the gift that gives twice – support local businesses doubly by purchasing gift cards from them and in turn promoting their business by ‘keeping it local’. Truly a win-win!
At this time, TAP is eagerly awaiting our invitation back into our area schools, to reboot our tutoring programme.
There are a few fundraising opportunities in preliminary stages of planning, so look for these in the coming months, as another fun way to give back to our community.
TAP continues to receive and address a variety of needs in our community. The growing volunteer force is truly a feather in our TAP cap, with increasing interest shown by our youth.
Looking back and looking ahead, TAP continues to be a vibrant and essential force in our community. So many thanks to the generosity of our neighbours, who in turn are giving an unwavering and compassionate hand up to their neighbours.
