TAP Quarterly Report – July 2022

TAP QUARTERLY REPORT - July 2022

The Tavistock Assistance Program continues to support our community in a variety of ways. Most recently, TAP has had the opportunity, through the generosity of community members, to support camp attendance for children. This allows the summer fun to be enhanced for children, also supports a local organization (Camp Alliwannado), plus allows our community to show their caring ways. It’s a win-win-win!

TAP also sees a regular extension of our generous community donations through the giving of grocery and gas gift cards, informal counselling and other needs met. Through your thoughtfulness, we are able to help others over those rough patches in life, which we all encounter.

TAP is able to offer these services (and more) partly due to our fundraising efforts. Two upcoming fundraisers are the Zehr Insurance Car Show and Cruise, held on Tuesday July 26, and the Community Lunch, following the Ecumenical Service, at Queen’s Park, on Sunday August 14.

Watch the Gazette for more information on the Car Show and Cruise. Huge Thank You to Kurtis Waymouth and Zehrs Insurance for their organization and co-ordination of this community event.

The Community Lunch is open to all. It consists of a sausage or hot dog, potato salad, sauerkraut, and drink. These items are donated or offered by local businesses, and served by friendly volunteers. The cost is by donation only. We thank the following for their support ~ Krugs Meat Market, Quehls Restaurant and Catering, Sam’s ValuMart, D&D Homestyle Cuisine and Café, as well as a small army of energetic TAP volunteers.

There will be a change in faces upcoming in TAP. Program Director Deb Wagler will be confidently handing over the reigns to incoming Linda Holst. Linda brings with her extensive, relevant and meaningful experiences, which will serve her and the community very well in her TAP role. Linda has a great deal of involvement with people, working empathetically with members of our community in different capacities. She is a longtime Tavistock resident, active in many services and organizations, always keeping others as her priority.  The Tavistock Assistance Program is very fortunate to be in her care.
